The Design Process

For Book Covers:

  • I need a copy of your manuscript to get a good feel for the tone and subject of the book

  • I will design and send you the first round of the cover, and you will send feedback. Rinse and repeat until you’re 100% happy with the cover.

  • (Optional) If your book is going to print, I'll repeat the above process with the back cover as well.

For interior formatting:

  • I need your final manuscript, preferably in .docx format.

  • I use fonts, colors, and even textural and graphical cues from the cover and use them on the interior. This pulls the whole book together into one cohesive piece of awesomeness with a powerful message. I ensure everything is perfect, including margins, page numbers, headers, footers, and the table of contents.

  • I will send you the necessary files to upload to KDP and/or IngramSpark.

For Kindle/Epub books:

Essentially, the process for Kindle/EPUBs is the same as the interior formatting described above, with one important exception: the design is typically more limited.

Kindle and EPUB books have certain default fonts. Don’t worry … they’re not bad fonts. It's just not quite as fancy as what we can do with a PDF or print book.

What Formats Will You Get?

  • Solo book covers are typically delivered as PNG, JPG, or PDF files.

  • Print books are delivered print-ready and in PDF format.

  • Kindle and Epub books are always supplied in .epub formats.
