Lyneta (Lye-Nee-tuh) is a procurer of archaic, cool-sounding words, but as much as she loves them, she edits them out for clarity. She delights in helping her clients shape and polish their stories that display God’s goodness and faithfulness. Her book, Curtain Call: A Memoir won a Selah award and a Cascade award. She graduated summa cum laude from Oregon State University and earned her professional editing certificate from Berkeley. When she’s not writing or editing, you can find her on the floor with her grandkids—building with Lego blocks, reading great books, and snuggling. Recently she’s added the cutest editorial assistant ever—a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy named Harli.

I recommend a developmental edit first if you haven't gotten feedback on the content and general flow of your book. Developmental edits cover big-picture issues, such as organization, flow, and tone. Includes line editing: removes repetitive or extraneous words, suggests areas to add more detail, and focuses on general readability.
Copyediting covers the four C's—clarity, correctness, consistency, and coherency. This service ranges from light copyediting to heavy copyediting. When we start this phase, I like to connect with the client to get an idea of what level of copyediting they expect.

For manuscripts that have already undergone copyediting and revision. A proofread addresses any spelling, punctuation, or layout errors.
A critique is an overall review of a manuscript with suggestions for improvement on plot, characters, pacing, and setting for fiction work and organization, structure, tone, and flow for nonfiction works. Rather than line edits, a critique offers overall suggestions and examples of ways the author can improve.

A book coach works with a client chapter by chapter, offering feedback while the manuscript is in progress. Coaching comes in the form of face-to-face meetings and manuscript review. Authors who feel stuck or aren't sure they're on the right track can get wisdom and encouragement from a book coach.
